Matthew 7:24-27

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24″Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

I love this scripture.  It is so profound because you just replace the word “house” with the word business, marriage, friendship, etc. and it just speaks the absolute truth in any area of your life.

A foundation is the most important part of any building.  In fact the higher a building goes up the deeper the foundation must go to support the structure.  This is the same principle to apply in our business.

The thing about a foundation is it’s really not to pretty.   We would much rather when building our house focus our attention on the kitchen or the bathroom.  We want to make sure that we have the stainless steel appliances, the fireplace, the spa tub, and colestone creme tile flooring.  Like wise in our business we tend to look for the “Ultimate Automated  Turn Key Downline Builder”.  Now I’m exaggerating a bit, but we tend to look for the quick fix, the accessories, the stainless steel appliances for our business.

When we build our foundation on God’s word we build a business that will withstand the storms that lie ahead.  Jesus did not say build your house on my word and you will not have any storms.  We all are going to face storms that is why we must build on the truth that has been given to us.

What does a Godly foundation look like in our business?

The Word is filled with truth’s that we must constantly be in search of.  I feel that this passage is a great starting point for a Godly network marketing business.

2 Timothy 2:1-7

You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.  Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.  No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs – he wants to please his commanding officer.  Similarly, if anyone competes as a athlete, he does not receive the victor’s crown unless he competes according to the rules.  The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops.  Reflect on what I am saying , for the Lords will give you insight into all this.

Soldier

  • Give up worldly affairs and be about our Father’s business
  • Endure rigorous training through discipline
  • Learn skills to prepare us for battle

Athlete

  • Be coachable
  • Train extremely hard
  • Compete within the rules, have structure

Farmer

  • Keep sowing the seed
  • Be patient
  • Maintain the vision of a harvest

By building a Godly foundation in our business we are now ready to add the features.  All the newest flashy techniques, tools, and tricks don’t mean much if we are not in God’s will, willing to practice, and patient enough to see it through to completion.
